GRILLING Chicken TENDERS – 3 different ways?

When I was growing up. Chicken TENDERS were the item on the menu that were cheap and easy to give us kids when we went out. Take the classic kids’ meal, Fried Chicken TENDERS, and French Fries. Then came Chick-fil-A. In my opinion that made the Chicken TENDERS adult food. The re-branded the Chicken Fingers into “Chick-fil-A Chick-n-Strips”.

So, when we were planning around Chicken TENDERS we could not decide on a single recipe. Today there are more options for Chicken Tenders than I can count. Some are considerably better than others. This is when the decision was made to do an experiment. 

 

So. we decided to take some of chicken tenders and do some experimenting. These recipe will range from Simple to CrazyWhy not cook 3 separate Chicken TENDERS recipes and see which one is the best. Ok, cool. Now let’s choose recipes that went from Simple to Complicated. 

 

So here we are. 

The Simple Recipe is a simple BBQ Chicken TENDERS Recipe 

The Moderately Simply Recipe is Bacon Wrapped Chicken TENDERS Recipe 

The More Complicated recipe is a Grilled Fake Fried Chicken TENDERS Recipe

3 Types - Grilled Chicken Fingers Experiment

We are introducing 3 different Chicken Finger recipes that will vary from Simple to Crazy.
🔶 The Simple Recipe is a simple BBQ Chicken TENDERS Recipe
🔶 The Moderately Simply Recipe is Bacon Wrapped Chicken TENDERS Recipe
🔶 The More Complicated recipe is a Grilled Fake Fried Chicken TENDERS Recipe

Equipment

  • Grill / Smoker
  • Pizza Rack

Ingredients
  

  • 24 ea. Chicken Fingers
  • 16 oz. Dill Pickle Juice
  • 8 slices Bacon
  • 2 ea. Eggs
  • 0.25 cups Dukes Mayonnaise
  • 1 Sleeve Saltine Wheat Crackers - Crushed
  • Rufus Teague Chicken Rub
  • Kosmos Q - Honey Killer B Rub

Instructions
 

  • Place the Chicken Fingers in a container or Ziploc bag with the Pickle Juice and marinate for 6 hours in the refrigerator.
  • Mix up your BBQ Rub Paste – Combine: ¼ cup - Dukes Mayonnaise, Eggs and BBQ Rubs (to taste) and let it rest in the refrigerator for 6 hours
  • Remove the Chicken Fingers from the marinade and damp-dry with a paper towel
  • Crush the Wheat Saltine Crackers up and spread them out in a pan
  • Select 8 ea. Chicken Fingers and apply the BBQ Rubs evenly on all sides
  • Select 8 ea. Chicken Fingers and Wrap in Bacon and then apply the BBQ Rubs evenly on all sides
  • Select 8 ea. Chicken Fingers and Dip them into the BBQ Rub Paste and Roll them in the Crushed Wheat Saltine Crackers
  • Place all the Chicken Fingers on the rack that will be placed in the grill
  • Pre-heat your Recteq pellet smoker to 300°
  • Place the Rack with the Chicken Fingers in the smoker/grill for 30-minutes
  • Rotate the rack in the Recteq and continue to cook
  • When the Internal temperature of the Chicken Fingers reaches ~+165°, remove and let it rest
  • Let them Rest for 10-minutes, Slice and enjoy.
